Heritage Violin Case

Great case so far. The material is pretty nice and everything fits really good inside. I'd give it a 4/5 so far for quality for price.

Good...but!

I was so excited to see my violin case arrive today! It took Shar 3 days to process and get the case shipped, but when it left the warehouse, it arrived within a few days, which was great! My violin fit in the case, but it was a tight and snug fit. The case has suspension in there, so it does fit snug in the case. However, the pocket at the bottom of the case holds so much! My shoulder rest, which does not fold down, fits perfectly with room for other accessories like rosin, an extra bridge, new strings, etc. So I do love this case, it comes with a lock and key, and backpack straps which is great for me when I'm walking across campus to my violin lessons. So if you're looking for a modest violin case with nice amenities, this is your case. Not sure what I'll do about my next violin case, but for now, this one does the job, and quite well!

Ok for the price

I've had this case for over 2 years now and it has served me well. Unfortunately the 'suspension cushioning' was much too thin to be of any use, and the hydrometer has been stuck on 60 since I received it. It's not really surprising as this case retails at $99.00. Also, beware of loading down the sheet music pocket since this will tip the case over when opened. That being said, I must say it has protected my previous $500 violin from numerous minor falls, and being dropped, and its flaws never really impaired its functionality as an intermediate level case. I strongly recommend it for beginning and intermediate players, but if you're an advanced student with a 3K-5K instrument, spend your money elsewhere.

Holds everything

I bought this case for my daughter, who must take her instrument to and from school daily. It's a nice big case with enough room for everything: her Everest (non-collapsing) shoulder rest, metronome, Snark tuner, required extra set of strings, all her music, etc., etc. She loves it, as do I The violin fits SNUGLY in its cutout, which makes me feel that much more secure that it won't get damaged in daily transit. Backpack straps have movable shoulder padding, which is nice for her comfort. A good, economical, high quality choice.

Beautiful Case! Sturdy.....

I grew up with a standard violin case and now I am buying cases for my kids. This case really protects the instrument. The red color is so pretty and it comes with a red velour/silk blanket to put on top of the violin to protect it from the bow. There is storage everywhere for a shoulder rest, rosin, tuner, extra bow, music, etc. I love this case....I am going to buy another one but in blue this time :-)

Great case

I recommend this case. My child has been using it now for a couple of months. It seems sturdy and durable. It is lighter than our last case which is helpful as it gets lugged from class to class. The price is reasonable.

Straps a disappointment

I purchased this violin case for my daughter as she needed a backpack style case for school and music camp. Within 4 months the straps were broken and useless. She used rubber bands to keep the latches shut so she could still use it over her shoulder. The case itself is fine. Great to have 4 bow holders, plenty of space for rosin and music. Just really needed the straps to be sturdy as that was the reason for an upgrade in her case. My daughter also says the case is really heavy.

Poor Straps

I have had this case for about three months, and the case, in most respects, is functional. However, the backpack straps break easily, rendering them worthless. Also, the clasp will open by merely tugging the two halves of the case a bit. Storage space is limited, but theres plenty for basic accessories. The hygrometer works well.

good, but skimped on the build quality

I decided on a case that put the bow spinners over the compartment to avoid the potential of an unsecured bow (spinners can loosen over time) from hitting the violin. That narrowed the options a bit. The blanket is cheap and the zipper pulls are chintzy. I'm not sure the tight fit for my violin is a good idea either. I'll stick with it, but I'm not sure I can recommend it.

Heritage Challenger

I originally bought this case to replace my aging, shaped foam case. However, when it arrived after I ordered it, I was very disappointed. The suspension cushioning is too thin to be of any use, and the padding is practically non-existent. Also, the "durable" plywood used in the case is very thin and flimsy. The back of the case would buckle inwards and hit the back of my violin even if I just tapped it with two fingers. Also, the accessory box lid pull cord snapped and broke the first day of use, and so did the carrying strap hooks.

a decent solid case

I have had this case for more than a year and have found it to be a good, solid case. Unlike the prior poster, I have not had a problem with the wood shell bending under pressure, nor with any knobs or components coming loose, and I open the case and compartment almost every day. I found the padding adequate, and the velvet nicer than expected, given the price. The hygrometer is more accurate than another case I own, the violin fits snugly, the latch closes securely, and there is sufficient room for accessories. The included backback straps are insufficiently padded for the rather hefty case )it feels like more than 6 lbs(, and the straps are not particularly comfortable no matter how I connect them. And longer rainflaps with more snaps would be nice. Overall I would say this is a decent no-frills case if you dont need to travel much with the violin.

Love it!

I have had this case for about 8 months now. I have used it to go to weekly lessons, taken it on road trips, and taken it on 3 flights (in the cabin in overhead storage). So far nothing bad has happened. The zippers still work, the cord on the accessory compartment is fine (best of all my Bon Musica shoulder rest fits in there), the spinners are fine; it looks like the day I got it despite all my travels (I can't comment on the strap because I don't use it). The onlything that never worked from the beginning was the hygrometer. It only ever reads between 50-60 regardless of where I am (dry socal/humid Seattle). But I didn't buy it for that, I bought it to protect my violin and that's exactly what it's doing.
