"Doesn't sing"
In the words of our violin teacher- "this violin doesn't sing". I don't even like the sound as much as the Angels String 1/8 size violin we had before this 1/4 size Maestro. It's a pretty violin, but disappointed in the sound. Perhaps the quality is inconsistent, as others seem quite pleased. This has a flatness of sound, no roundness or richness, the E string is annoyingly bright.
Very pleased student
We are parents of a 2nd year student. We purchased this as an upgrade because our son outgrew the 3/4 Prelude we purchased previously. He was not unhappy with that instrument as a starter but says this one sounds much nicer. It is a beautiful instrument as well :-)
Very satisfied
My son has been playing for a little over 3 years. As his parents, we have no knowledge or ear for violins. We ordered 4 different violins from Shar and brought them into his teacher. We didn't tell her names or prices of any, and hands down she picked this violin. We think it sounds great.
Better than I expected
I am parent and teacher. I bought my 10 y.o. a 1/4 size "Maestro" about a year ago. We have been pleased. Better sound than I expected out of this size and price. She is an early-intermediate player and this fiddle has served her well.
Pleasant Sounding Violin
My daughter needed an upgrade student violin so we purchased a Franz Hoffman Maestro violin and a Meinel pernambuco bow. I am a cellist with a very particular ear for tone quality and this violin sounded wonderful! Gone was the nasal sound I am used to hearing from a student violin. This violin has a very smooth, projecting tone quality--almost as pleasing as a cello! :)
Great violin for student
My 9 year old son is playing Suzuki book 4 and loves this violin. He really likes the warm sound it produces. He tested out a few other models and liked this one best.
