Great quality for the price

I bought this shoulder rest due to the advertised price, being that I didn't want to spend a lot to try out a shoulder rest for the first time. This is a great product for the cost. The feet really hold on to the instrument. The knobs that turn to tighten the legs hold their position and the foam rubber on the rest really grips and holds to your shoulder. There's even a little dip where your shoulder should fit. It's sturdy and feels a lot like a KUN or Everest except the Empire doesn't swivel or bend. I'm happy with it.

I love the Empire Violin Shoulder Rest

I have tried many shoulder rests, expensive and inexpensive and this is the best I have found; even better than the original Kun which I have used for a long time. It does not loosen or fall off. The best part of it is being able to adjust it to any width you want. Previous rests have had notches to adjust to and sometimes those just didn't come out in the right place for comfort. Even though the feet don't collapse, it still fits in the cubby in my case. I highly recommend this shoulder rest.

Fantastic! --until it wasn't.

I used the same KUN shoulder rest for 10 years, until I grew tired of its falling off my instrument during every rehearsal and performance. I loved the Empire shoulder rest for a year. It never falls off. But then, the rubber lining the gripping arms wore away. I didn't notice until the rubberless shoulder rest had badly scratched my violin. Of course, this happened a month after the warranty had expired. If you're looking for a disposable accessory, this rest is amazing! But if you want high quality and something that'll last more than a few months or a year,, pass on by.

Empire Shoudler Rest

I was really excited by the Empire Shoulder Rest design with the adjustable sliding feet for a more exact fitting of individual violin body however I am really disappointed by the rubber gripping material on the feet of the shoulder rest as it wears out really fast.

Finally!

Finally a shoulder rest that stays on the instrument! I've been using it for about a month now and it really works!!! I still can't believe that it costs only $10. Even if you have a dozen kinds of shoulder rests already, you owe it to yourself to try this one.

Great economical shoulder rest

This shoulder rest is great. The sliding feet make it fit my daughter's tiny viola perfectly. It fits her body so much better than the Kun rest we were trying to use. it is soft and comfortable, and the rubber gripping seems to be sturdy so far.

Broke after 3 months

I ordered several of these for my school program based on price and recommendation. After 3 months the feet on three of them have already broken and they are not usable. If it were just one, I would say the student did something to it. But it's THREE and counting. I will go back to paying more for Kun or Everest.
