Asked On: 06/28/2018

Is there a music pouch that could fasten onto this case? Can one of the Joeys fit this case?

SHAR Answer:

Hello Susie! Unfortunately, we do not have any sheet music pouch attachments for this case. And while the tapered end of the High Tech Slim case is not compatible with the Joey case carrier, the Cushy Deluxe Carry-All case carrier works well with this case. It also has space for sheet music storage, negating the need for a sheet music pouch. I hope this helps!

I need the dimensions of the interior storage space, please.

SHAR Answer:

Hi Paula! This case comes with a removable pocket which fits inside the storage area. The pocket is a bit of an odd shape - similar to an obtuse triangle. The pocket measures approximately: 7.5" Length (longest) x 5.5" Width (widest) x 1.75" Depth. Hope this helps!

Asked On: 08/03/2016

What's the difference between the BAM St. Germain Stylus Oblong Violin case and the BAM Stylus Oblong Violin Case? Is it the same? Are these two roomier than the BAM High Tech Slim Violin Cases?

SHAR Answer:

They are extremely similar (the BAM St. Germain case and the BAM Stylus). Their interior is practically identical. The two main differences are weight and exterior material. The St Germain case weighs 6.83 lbs and the Stylus weighs slightly less at 6.39 lbs. The exterior material is also what's different (but both are water resistant); the St. Germain is made from Bam Ballistic fabric and the Stylus is made from 2000-denier Cordura fabric. Ballistic nylon is a thick, tough, nylon fabric that was originally used to make bulletproof vests/similar military items. Ballistic fabric is a larger weave fabric, shiny and more smooth than Cordura. The Cordura is more like a natural fiber (think backpacks, luggage, camping gear). This gives cordura somewhat higher abrasion resistance, while the ballistic has higher tear strength. However, in both fabrics the tear strength and the abrasion resistance are so much higher than is really necessary, so you will seldom (if ever) experience any difference between cordura and ballistic. So both materials are really good choices for durability, tear and abrasion resistance, strength and water resistance. The choice comes down to personal preference, how you like the look/feel of the exterior of the case, and potentially the weight (although the St Germain case is not even 1/2 lb more than the Stylus so the weight difference is small), and your budget (the St Germain costs slightly more). The St. Germain comes in more bright and colorful options than the Stylus, which comes in more subdued colors like black and gray. The Stylus has been around longer and perhaps BAM wanted to make a more colorful, updated version of it with a slightly different external material. Both the St. Germain and the Stylus cases have slightly more room than the BAM Hightech Slim cases (which measures 32" long x 11.5" wide x 5.5" high and weighs 4.2 lbs). Both the St. Germain and the Stylus cases come with the large external back pocket for sheet music and also the flat external front pocket made of reflecting fabric. They both also have a pretty large accessories pouch. The Hightech Slim cases don't have either of these pockets for music, and its accessories pouch is a little bit smaller. However, the trade-off is that the Hightech Slim (while it doesn't come with these things) is only 4.19 lbs, so it is really good for players who travel a lot (and it's hard shell is super durable, good for traveling in overhead bins on flights). If you aren't (or won't in the future) traveling with your instrument a ton, then you might consider going with one of the other cases than the Hightech because they have slightly more room and cost less. Please note that all of the above information applies to violin cases only (not viola, cello etc) and is subject to change in the future. This was a lot of information, but we hope it helps!
