Not a good bow for young violinists

I purchased this bow for my daughter's 1/10 size violin. I am a violinist and teacher myself and I do not like this bow at all. It is bulky and heavier than other bows. It is also much more difficult to turn the adjusting screw and I can already tell that the hair tension has been compromised after only 6 months of use.

Cheap

I heard Shar buys cheap stuff from China. This confirms it. Probably has Coronavirus too!

Meh...

These bows are junk! Iíve got a $10 Cecilio bow (wood!) and this one I got second hand. It feels cheap, it has no life in it. The only good thing about it is that the button is nice and sturdy. Not worth $10 let alone $45!

Great bow for a beginner, even an intermediate player!

I purchased this bow for my daughter in size 1/2, then 3/4 later. For being a picky child, she did not complain about the bow at all. Now she just moved up to the full size violin, and she requested to have the same bow!

Tension problems

The first one I had the frog cracked after 5 months. Shar replaced it and my daughter used it for another few months. I just took it out for my son to use and see itís cracked in the same place as the first one. Itís never been stored with the screw tightened. Itís very low quality and disappointing.

Ideal bow for young beginners

The Glasser company has been in business for more than 75 years and consistently provides quality bows at reasonable prices. I feel these bows are especially helpful and durable for the young (unpredictable) beginners! This little student is 2.5, and she eagerly enjoys learning the basics of violin playing, including always rosining the bow first!

Excellent Bow

I'm an adult beginner violinist, so I bought this bow as an upgrade from the bow that came with my starter violin kit (didn't purchase my starter kit from shar). All I can say is, "what a difference!" This bow is lightweight, holds to the instrument, pulls smoothly and looks nice. The rosin sticks to it and finally, no more "bouncy" bow. I'm starting to feel like I can learn with confidence now that my bow is moving nicely across the strings.

Nope-Poor design.

I really don't like these new Glasser bows for my students. There is a clear difference in the sound and feel of the bow from the previous Glasser design. It's a poor tone quality and does not feel at all like a wood bow.
