Hermann Richard Pfretzschner is without dispute, one of the most prolific and important German bow makers, beginning the well known and highly sought after Pfretzschner dynasty. Studying under his father Carl Richard and then at the workshop of J.B. Vuillaume, H.R. Pfretzschner quickly became one of the primary providers of bows to a great number of German workshops.
This fine example from the Pfretzschner shop, this bow is made from high quality orange-brown pernambuco with a silver mounted ebony frog. The head plate is made of ivory. A somewhat flexible stick, this bow creates a luscious, full bodied tone.
