Asked On: 05/24/2018

What is the weight and length of this bow?

SHAR Answer:

Hi Thomas! The weights and lengths depend on the grip style you select. A 3/4 size German grip bow will average about 132 grams and 27 inches long. A 3/4 French grip bow will average 125 grams and 29 inches long. Both of these factors can vary slightly from bow to bow. I hope this helps!

Asked On: 12/13/2017

Hi, I play an EUB (NSD Nxt 4-string) and although not a classical player, I would like to experiment using a bow on some original tunes my jazz group, Island Jazz Collective" has composed. Being new to the bow world it appears that the "Schmidt Workshop Double Bass Bow" might be a good place to start. But, what size or length should I get? Thanks.

SHAR Answer:

Hi Dale! For a full size bass, you would want to select a 3/4 size bass bow. There's also two choices for the bow grip: French or German. Both bows have their advantages, please view the link for more information and let us know if you have any other questions.

Question by:

Asked On: 11/20/2016

My almost 10 year old son has been taking double bass lessons for the past couple of months. He has been using a french bow but his teacher suggested trying german. His current bow measures about 2 ft end-to-end, hair measures 19 (it is marked S. Eastman), teacher says that it is a good size for him. Is a 1/4 the right size? Thank you!

SHAR Answer:

Hi Dana! You would want to select the bow size the corresponds with the size of bass you son currently uses. If he is playing a 1/4 sized bass, select the 1/4 bow option. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us at 1-800-248-7427.
