Solid Case BUT...

Received my case in the mail today and overall am satisfied with my pricey purchase. My violin feels quite safe inside, it's light, and very sleek looking. The straps that are included also feel very secure. However, I ordered the blue version of the case, which is presented as a very navy blue in the pictures online. This turned out to be quite a disappointment for me as the case in reality is an azure blue and not was I was looking for. Keep this in mind if you're eyeing the blue one and don't make the same mistake.

Overall Great

I bought this case because I have a lot of backaches and headaches and do a lot of walking with my case, and this was the lightest and best quality case. I am very happy with it! I bought mine in the Tweed and it is very light and very sturdy. My only complaint is that the outside shell scuffs and scratches VERY easily. The lack of outside music pocket took some getting used to, but its totally worth it for this case. Highly recommended.

Nice but easy to get scratches

It's a sturdy violin case, and it's a beautiful one. However, it is so easy to get scratches on the surface. We just bought it but within a week, paints came off where were scratched. Wished that surface color would stay much longer.

Good travel case

I got this case as a lightweight replacement for a Bobelock shaped case which I use instead of my trusty old Weber Oblong when traveling. Nice apparently rugged case although spartan inside--no blanket included. Has room for my Kun Voce rest, 2 bows, and a few small accessories (which is basically all I want when traveling). I like the backpack straps with their safety locking feature although the case would be a little more comfortable to carry if it could ride a little higher on my back. One thing I'm not super-happy with is that the key locks are very sticky and require some force/jiggling around with the key to get the latches to lock (unlock is not an issue). Am looking into whether this is a defect or "normal" for this case but at any rate this is a feature I don't expect to use much. I've noticed that the case appears to be more sensitive to temp/humidity changes than my Weber since my violin seems to go out of tune more quickly when stored in the case. Also based on other comments about this case and temperature sensitivity I will be buying a BAM "Hoody" to cover it...

Colors??

I would like to say that i am eventually going to buy this product, but I would like to buy the case in a different color. I am a happy customer with Shar, but I think it is time for me 2 buy a new violin case and i am looking for one that is quite unique. Please e-mail back

don't buy it

This case is seductive and beautiful, but don't buy it. The outside will melt when placed merely close to a radiator. Furthermore, the company will do NOTHING as a result of our spending ca. $500 on its shoddy product. I don't like to be negative or to spoil anyone's fun but, alas, don't waste your hard earned musician's money.

Sleek and Light!

This case is so much sleeker and lighter than my previous cases! It is so convenient to sling this over my shoulder and go -- I hardly even feel it. The instrument is suspended in the interior, there is an interior pocket of sufficient size for rosin, extra strings, mute, etc., and there is a velcro loop inside for securing a shoulder rest. The case holds 2 bows )inserted backwards from my previous cases - i.e. bow tip to the left - that took a little getting used to(. I thought I might miss the external music pocket of my previous case, but I really don't. The interior is a soft, plain black fabric and the exterior has a nice sheen and modern design. Great case!

Love this case!

I ordered this case 5 days ago after admiring a friend's Bam case, and it was delivered today. I couldn't be happier with the product! It seems durable but really lightweight, the latches are super easy to work, and the straps attach by mini carabiners. How cool is that?? I love that I can carry this by the handle, on one shoulder, slung diagonally across my body, or with both straps as a backpack. The tweed color is actually a silvery gray - shiny but not obnoxiously so. My collapsible shoulder rest just fits inside the case, too. The only thing I wish I had known is that the "best way" free shipping was FedEx SmartPost. I got lucky with a quick and accurate ship time, but I tend to pay more $ to avoid SmartPost because of past issues (and a husband who ships things from his business who refuses to ship SmartPost). Just a word of caution to others: if you don't like SmartPost, you may want to choose to pay for your shipping.

Bam contour case

This is the greatest case! I live in a remote marine environment where some gigs are accessible only by boat. I just "throw" it in a skiff, even during rainy weather, and know this case will keep my violin safe. Another musician joked that if the boat sinks then at least the violin will be saved. This case is very lightweight and easy to carry around.

Best case I've had!

I bought this case near the beginning of college. It's everything I want in a case and more! The case is very lightweight--perfect for biking/walking around campus. Also, the case is durable and has done a great job protecting my violin while traveling locally and internationally and while biking in the rain/bad weather. The blue color is very beautiful and unique; I get a lot of compliments while walking around with my case! Though the case is pricey, it is definitely worth buying!

a word of caution

This case is a regular solar cooker. My violin is disfigured with chunks of varnish missing from the scroll where it melted to my fiddle cloth and patches of fuzz where the fibres adhered to the varnish. This happened while I was walking around town on a sunny but not especially hot day. This case is noisy. I wear my case backpack style while walking and cycling. It rattles loudly when in motion especially when taking it on and off or just setting the case down. Entering a quiet room I am suddenly the center of attention. This case is hard. I'll grant you the fiddle is safe inside it so long as it doesn't get any sunshine. Bystanders may not be as safe however. When this case hits you, BAM. This case is expensive. I wish i had the money back. It was a bad choice.

Perfect lightweight case for travel!

After a lot of investigation I decided to pay the high price for this case because of its light weight and design. I had been lugging a heavy oblong case through airports for years. I just flew on two flights to Spain with this case and with the backpack straps, it was so easy to carry through long walks in airports. The only downside is that I can't easily fit my shoulder rest and pencils in the case along with the removable accessory case. The "tweed" is more like a silver with some subtle blackish lines - it looks nice. Altogether, I'm very happy with this case.

Awesome case!

I have had my BAM hightech case for 1 week and have really enjoyed the lightweight (but very durable) convenience. This case replaced a very well used Mustang case and even with everything loaded into the case, it was lighter than my old case completely EMPTY! I am looking forward to many great trips, rehearsals and gigs with my new case. Well worth the price!

Great case

So my bam violin case has finally arrived today. The inside space was larger than I expected. I do not use a collapsible shoulder rest, but it fits just fine. I like to carry my violin case backpack style. The two straps took me a while to figure out how they could be hooked CORRECTLY to the left sides of the case. Overall, this is a quality case with nice features. I would recommend it.
