Good Case!

I got my Manhattan case in 2014. It's roomy and has held up well. It's a great case, but because it's so durable, I won't need another for awhile.

Great Student Case

This case, a simple version of 'The Continental' is for me is at a more than sufficient standard as a student. It is very roomy and has a strong protective outer shell. At the time, I can't think of any problems with it that other cases at this level has. Overall this is a good case that I would recommend for a large variety of students.

Great case for the price

I brought the Manhattan case for $129 last week during Shar's Inventory sale. I enjoy the extra thick pads that really suspend my violin from the bottom of the case. Also the top part "arches" up to keep bows from touching top plane of my violin. I assume the top is NOT touching the bridge-well it has a small pad built-in to prevent hard contact. The same pads are found for neck and scroll. So overall it is great case for the price. Actually I thought it's no brainer for $129! On the other hand, it seems that the lid of theo outer compartment touches the string tube when the case is closed, not a big problem though. Also I have to agree the reviewer before that craftsmanship and durability of this case sure have rooms ofimprovment. I also wish Shar provides more options on colors, a working hygrometer and a less childlish/lame logo (forgive me). But I

Fantastic Protection! Durability - not so much

I bought the Manhattan case 4-5 years ago and I still use it to this day. It's well padded/protected and the wood shells are fantastic. But the fact that it's "protecting" my violin extremely well even if the case itself deteriorating surprises me. I travel once in a while and take it to school everyday and the thing is breaking apart inside out (pockets, lock, the part that connects the two shell, etc). So ultimately I am looking for a new case but I have thoroughly enjoyed it's existence till now. Oh btw, this case is definitely NOT a lightweight case especially once you put music, rosin, shoulder-rest, etc. I'm pretty bulked up but it's really tiresome to lug it around everywhere. And btw, this is American case company is "partnered" with shar so they make this case seem better than it is. So the accurate 5-star ratings should be... Protection - 5 Durability - 3 Craftmanship - 4. which is still pretty good.

Not durable

My daughter has had this case for 5 months, and it is showing a good bit of wear. The case began to lose external pieces almost immediately: two of the plastic pegs the case rests on when in an upright position and one of the magnetic fasteners. Now the exterior fabric is showing wear and tear. Her previous case, which came with a rental violin, held up for years. This case is taken to school, but suffers no more wear and tear than the previous one yet is much less durable. The case does have plenty of storage and easily handles all of her accessories, but I wouldn't buy this case again as I don't expect it will have much of a lifespan.

Very nice

For the money I think this is a fantastic case. Unlike one reviewer said about these cases, I don't think the outside is 'flimsy' at all. The outer shell seems to be very supportive/protective, and the inside is very nice. About the only thing to nitpick, is that it didn't come with any info (brochure, manual, description of features, etc.)

Great Case!

My 14yo asked for a new violin case for Christmas this year, I chose this one with the blue-grey interior. It came very quickly and was impeccably packed to prevent any damage. The case is beautiful and feels very well made. The storage areas are large and close tightly so no worries about anything accidentally falling out. The outer zipper area is large to stow some books/music as well, and sturdy enough that I wouldn't worry about anything getting messed up. Instruments fits snug and is well cushioned. Wonderful mid range case.

Not great

I had been very pleased with my continental violin case and mustang adjustable viola case (both lasted 10 years). I was expecting the same quality with the manhattan case and was left very disappointed. The materials are definitely a downgrade from my other cases. The shoulder strap ripped from the sides of the case within the first 6 months, parts of the interior became unglued within a year and 3 of my 4 bow spinners are so lose that my bows regularly come loose. On a side note, the flag logo on the front is cheesy and also poorly made. What happened to the American Case Company from years ago?

Very Nice

My wife's been carrying around a 30 year old American violin case. It was kind of tattered but getting the job done until the zipper quit working recently. Since the price on these cases has come down over the years, we were finally able to replace it with the Manhattan. WOW! What a nice look, fit and finish. The side case holds all her music easily. Her custom built violin and accessories all fit perfectly with room to spare. Thanks for such a nice product at a reasonable price. Kudos to Sharmusic for the reasonable pricing, quick shipping, tracking info, and excellent service. This is a VERY NICE case.
