Albinoni, Tomoso - Adagio in g minor for Violin and Piano - Arranged by R Giazotto - Schirmer Edition
Tomaso Albinoni is known today for the absolutely gorgeous Adagio in g minor, one of the most popular works from the Italian baroque period. Ironically, though, the adagio was actually composed by Remo Giazotto, in 1945. Giazotto, a musicologist, discovered a fragment of a sonata, which he attributed to Albinoni. Using the theme from that fragment, Giazotto composed the single movement adagio in g minor, scored for organ and strings. This confusion over composer and date does not diminish the quality of the music, though, as this piece remains very popular and is often played and recorded.
Arranged for Violin and Piano. Published by G Schirmer.
