I use this for my younger students, they absolutely love it! It made all the difference from boring lessons, where I could not get them to do repeated actions, to very exciting lessons. I put it on the violin stand, and with the very young Pre-Twinklers I have them do 10 different exercises during one lesson, they know that once each exercise is completed to my satisfaction, they get to move a colored bead, and we move on to the next exercise. And they know there will be 10 activities, it helps them focus until the end of their lesson. For older students, we use it to count the number of times we repeat a certain part. For my piano students, I set it on the piano music stand, and we use it in the same way, with the same wonderful results. I even use it myself, for my own practicing. I could not teach without it anymore! I am ordering another one, because my grandson also uses it a lot for his violin practice.

Hi Joann, Thanks for your question! Yes, these practice beads should work with most (but not all) folding music stands. The beads will definitely work with the Light Music Stand With Bag (item #LS5) that we carry here at Shar as well as any folding music stand with a thin metal lip (such as a Hamilton metal folding stand). These beads will definitely work on a Manhasset stand or any metal stand with a thin metal lip. However, they don't easily fit over the traditional Hamilton stands (such as the Hamilton Encore Music Stand) because of the way those stands' metal lip is made. They also don't fit over the Peak SMS-20 Music Stand (the one with the fold-up desk), but they do fit over the Peak SMS-32 Flat Panel Desk Music Stand (because that one has a metal desk with a thin metal lip). Hope that helps!
