I discovered the Everest shoulder rest while I was at Shar auditioning violins. I'd used several other shoulder rests and other solutions, but the Everest was perfect from the moment I put it on in a way no other brand has been.

Have had the shoulder rest for about 7 months and the foam separated from the rest body. Contacted the company and their solution to the problem was to superglue it. So, you may want to consider an alternate product that may cost a bit more but has a lifespan greater than six months

I have used this rest for 1 1/2 years and it has been a great rest. It still looks and feels like new. I have loved it and would for sure get it again. I also know many other violinists that have used this for years and still adore it. Thank you Shar!!!

The Everest was recommended by my teacher. This is the best shoulder rest I've found at any price. It's the most comfortable, keeps the violin at the perfect height, holds securely, and it doesn't fall off the violin! Everest is much better than shoulder rests costing much more.

I tried this for my son's 1/2 size violin because I didn't want to shell out for a Kun, which I've used for 20 years. He liked the color selection, and I liked the idea of the simple molding. I'm mostly happy, but we're still having some fit issues. The 1/2-3/4 size rest is just a bit too big for my son's 1/2 size violin even when the legs are screwed into the narrowest holes. We have to angle it in an odd way on the back that makes it a little difficult to get the right neck angle. I can tell that it will be perfect for the 3/4, though, so we're holding onto it.

This is the most comfortable shoulder rest I have tried yet! You can't find a better price. This is a really good shoulder rest for you people with longer necks like mine!

The Everest Shoulder Rests do have collapsible version. It is model EC-4, fits 4/4 size to most 1/2 size violins.

I first discovered this shoulder rest when a student came to me with a new violin from Shar that had the Everett included. I loved it and have been ordering it for new students ever since. It is more comfortable than the Kun, doesnt fall off like the Kun, and is half the price. The non-collapsable feature is a downside, but its negligible considering the benefits. Im hoping they come out with one for viola soon.

In my 28 years of playing violin, Ive tried a lot of shoulder rests. I recently had a student who had one of these, and every time I would tune her violin, I would notice how comfy and nice this one was. I was thrilled when she got me one for Christmas! I wish it was collapsible, but I really cant complain. Its very comfy and nice and lightweight. Yay!

One of my viola students got one of these. Id never seen one before, but it looks like it has really solid construction. It attaches to the instrument really easily and snuggly. If youve ever had a student break part of their Kun, have them try one of these. The only flaw I can see is that these doesnt seem to be collapsible at all.

HI Emiko, thank you for your question! The minimum height depends on the size of the shoulder rest. The rest for 4/4 violins - goes down to about 1.75" and the one for 1/4-1/10 size instruments goes down to ~1".
