About This Item

Firm and Flexible Support, Maximum Comfort

The Swedish-made Belvelin shoulder pad is perhaps the most comfortable shoulder pad you will ever use! The secret is in the unique cellular foam, offering the firmest support, yet possessing a soft, velvety finish. Unlike other foam shoulder pads, it will not “bottom out”, yet it cushions away all the sharp edges of your violin or viola. Simple to use – just position it where it is most comfortable, and secure with a standard rubber band.

The Belvelin Shoulder Pad is available in three sizes, Small, Medium, and Large. Choose the size that works best for you, depending on the amount of support you prefer, and regardless of what size violin or viola you play. To help guide you, refer to the chart under "Item Specifications", showing the dimensions of each Belvelin Shoulder Pad.

Note: The Belvelin Small is suitable for all size violins, including 1/8, 1/10, and 1/16 sizes

On some of the other foam shoulder rests there is a comment that the foam could damage fragile/brittle varnish. Is the Belvelin subject to the same caution? Thank you for your help.

SHAR Answer:

Thanks for your question! The warning on some of the other foam shoulder rests is only present for shoulder pads with some sort of adhesive strip that can damage brittle or fresh varnish. This shoulder rest is held on with a rubber band and there is no risk of damage to varnish. I hope this helps!

What this shoulder rest different with the Zaret one? They look same, and the Zaret one is firm as well. I am look for a right shouldrest for my son. He can only use the cushion one, not the hard ones.

SHAR Answer:

The Belvelin Shoulder Rest is constructed of a closed-cell foam. This material is firm yet flexible and will not absorb moisture or perspiration. The Zaret is made from an open-cell foam and is an effective solution for students but will not retain its shape like the Belvelin. You're welcome to order both for your son to try. You can return any unwanted items within 30 days of the purchase for a full refund. Hope this helps!

Asked On: 07/05/2016

What is the size/brand/width of the rubber band for replacement purposes?

SHAR Answer:

Hi Charlie! Thanks for your question. The Belvelin Shoulder Rest comes with a natural rubber band. Its size/width is 3" when just loose, or about 8" when stretched taut. If you need to purchase a shoulder rest rubber band only, for replacement purposes, we would recommend the Perfect Violin Shoulder Rest - Clear Elastic Band (Item# PSR1) that we carry here at Shar. It is pretty durable and it stretches across a shoulder rest and it's clear which might look a little more professional. Hope that helps!
