As a school orchestra teacher for many years, and a private cello teacher, I keep multiple packs of Fast Fret on hand. The most annoying cause of students' shifting inaccuracies is accumulated "crud" on the fingerboard, slowing down speed and accuracy of shifts. Fast Fret cleans it all off in a jiffy, I highly recommend.

This product does what it says it does. Really keeps the fingerboard and strings clean and eases fingerings.

Hello Eddie! The manufacturer has a helpful demo video on their website that you can find here. The product was designed for use on guitars, but can be applied to acoustic string instruments and used for the same purpose. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hello Susan! Even when we wash our hands, our fingers are continuously producing oils while we're playing, so a gray residue is not uncommon. Products and lubricants like Fast Fret will help your fingers move smoothly across the strings and help protect your strings from those natural oils, which helps them last longer. I hope this helps!

Hello Yosef! This lubricant is made from a mineral oil, and there is no silicone in the formula. I hope this helps!
