I purchased this lamp for my daughter to use to practice her violin at home six months ago. I got the more expensive Brio rechargeable model since her music stand is not near any outlets. I was hesitant to purchase this lamp, after reading on this and another website that it had problems with breaking and other issues. However, there did not seem to be better options out there, so I decided to take a chance with it. It worked beautifully at first, and my daughter was very happy with it. The housing is sturdily constructed, it comes off and on her music stand easily, and the quality of the light is pleasant and bright. It stays charged for the three hours that were advertised. However, today when my daughter tried to use it after charging it, it was still dead, and the light strip with the LEDs on it is partially peeling off. I am not sure if the problem is with the battery or the light strip. I have reached out to Shar's customer service and I am assuming that it is still under their warranty. This is pricey for something that only works a short while. I wish that there were good alternatives.

First trial with this light I am very impressed with the amount of light that this unit puts out even in battery mode. Brighter than the standard plug-in lights that we use in symphony or pit gigs. No problem for a 3+ hour rehearsal and no fading. Attaches easily to a regular stand and had room for the music folder and easily a 12 1/2 inch tall Rachmaninoff Symphony #2 part and still be able to turn pages easily;) May be bulky for travel since it doesn't fold. Has a dimmer switch and desigh blocks light so others sitting in front of the stand or audience will not be bothered by the light.

The entire plane of the music stand is not uniformly lighted by this lamp, the light is brightest on the top of the page, and fades out noticeably towards the bottom. It's too bad, because this is such a nice idea and an attractive lamp.

Light has everything I need: Plenty of light for 69 yo amateur violinist. Built in dimmer. Designed such that light shines on music without distraction to audience. Fits music stand. May power by either built-in rechargeable battery or power outlet. Power cord extension included. Wish I had bought this first.

Hello Gail! Yes, this stand light comes with a charging cable. It could physically clip onto your music binder, but we cannot guarantee that your binder can support the weight of the light. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
