Adequate but not enamored of it
I use the tuner for both my violin and viola. The only place it holds well is in the area of the nut. The grip on the instrument is tenuous, but I've never had it fall off the area of the nut. It does not grip well at the scroll and falls off, although if you did as another reviewer mentioned and put a rubber band around it, it should hold at the scroll. It detects the tones well when bowed. When plucking strings (e.g. after replacing a string) it detects the tone, but the display disappears quickly despite the string ringing. No problem when bowing however. It meets my needs, but I wish that it gripped more securely. I have had mine 2 or 3 years and have not needed to replace the battery.
