I was at a music festival and in desperation I asked a luthier for advice on what would help me hold my fiddle without the fidgetting and pain in the neck. He recommended this chinrest and said he puts it on all the instruments he builds. I was a little sad to part with my beautiful rosewood (but cruelly painful) chinrest. But hey, comfort over beauty. And you know something --- it worked! Much better. Not as pretty, but a lot more comfortable. A side note: I've noticed that Wittner is slowly taking over my fiddle --- first the pegs, now the chinrest. What's next? Their stuff seems to be well-designed.

I have a set of ten chinrests I try with my students to find the perfect fit. This particular Wittner is chosen the most of all of them (more than half the time). Many students literally break into a smile when the put the violin under their chin, it feels so much more comfortable than what they're used to. I keep a supply of these in my studio in various sizes. It's durable and stable even for advanced players (romantic concerto level).

I use this chinrest for beginners who are left eye dominant. These beginners often have to tilt their head to the right to see the e-string. This chinrest allows their head to be upright by bringing their head a bit more to the center of the violin.

My daughter got rashes and dry skin on her neck after getting a new violin. We found it was the chin rest and the metal clamps. We bought this hypoallergenic chin rest and it eliminated the rash and pain immediately. Installation was simple and only took about 3 minutes.

This chin rest is made of cheap material and is undoubtedly the most complicated chinrest I have ever tried to put on a violin in my thirty years of teaching. It comes with a special tool for installation that would not work on any normal chinrest. Plus, the legs of the chinrest detach and are difficult to assemble. I find the item to be way overpriced and nothing special. I was hoping to find a better chinrest for my daughter than those offered by the rental company, but this fails miserably. Save your money and buy a chinrest made of better material!!

Very comfortable and DEFINITELY less irritating than other chinrests. I am a violinist with the NJ Symphony Orchestra and playing constantly has resulted in a mild contact dermatitis that this product has helped alleviate. It has made a noticeable improvement in my post performance comfort. The fact that you don't need to use excessive pressure to keep this chinrest on the instrument is also a welcome bonus. Highly recommended!

My son was having trouble positioning his violin properly and was constantly complaining about discomfort, so his teacher suggested replacing the "wing" style chinrest with this one. I was reluctant to start messing with the "hardware" of the violin, but this actually solved all our problems. It's smoother than our original chinrest, which my son likes. It was so smooth, in fact, that I worried it might be too slippery to hold, but he hasn't had that problem. It also elevated his chin to just the right height, and it's one smooth piece so it no longer pokes him in weird places. The shape is just right - ergonomic? Anyway, well worth the expense and trouble.

After struggling for years with my violin "mark" on my neck, I was willing to pay what it cost to play my violin without injury. Many of the chinrests that I had tried pinched my skin and infected the area. I was delighted when I tried this one after my teacher had recommended it. Playing my violin has never felt so good. This is very easy to work with, being very versitile - working well in various positions and the different "holds" of musicians. It is also extremely affordable, so you don't really have anything to lose. I am now a teacher myself, and often recommend these to my students.

Love it! My young violinist was having difficulties keeping her violin properly positioned with the 'standard' chin rest. This is a phenomenal product. No more neck irritations and it sits exactly where we need it to be for proper violin hold. It was extremely easy to install and adjust. It is molded differently and my violinist said it felt better after the first piece played. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did.

I have this same chin rest. It feels great, but if your going for looks, this isn't for you. It's plastic but it feels good so you have to give up some points for the looks. Its easy to put on but the plastic is questionable. Your choice
