So useful! Until the straps came detached from the bag and the attachment points frayed all to heck. That being said I am a music student, music teacher, and touring musician. I am hard on stuff, often used this on a bike, and have scoliosis so the tension on it was wonky. I reckon it'd be last longer if you weren't putting it through such a trial. I will try and repair it (a few hours ago I got into a nasty bike accident trying to bike with my fiddle in a hiking backpack) but I'm not optimistic.

I needed something to carry not only my violin, but my 17.5" long flute case, as well. I was told that the large pocket on the Joey for dart shaped cases was 17" long, so I took a chance on this one, which has an 18" long large pocket. It fits both the flute and dart shaped violin quite handily, as well as my music, violin and flute stands. (I have to strap the violin stand on to the outside, but that's done easily enough.) I was worried that the Joey would be loose on the violin case, but it's easy to pull the straps snug.

I am a clarinetist who also enjoys playing violin. I needed a way to safely transport my basset horn to Europe in a separate case from my clarinets. The basset case is the same width as an oblong violin case, so I purchased the Joey to carry the instrument on my back. It is a perfect fit, making the trip a lot less cumbersome. It also kept my horn from being damaged and has loads of extra storage space. Such a useful purchase....five stars! Thanks!

I am a beginning violist and my significant other is an accomplished violinist. We both play in orchestras, mine New Horizons and his a marvelous community orchestra that performed the Messiah this year, plus the local festival orchestra each August. We always have tons to tote and something is always nearly forgotten. Now with the Joey, we can have EVERYTHING together. We have had fun loading them up and can't wait until rehearsals start again to try them out. They seem very well made and my viola case (16" viola) just fits with the buckles all the way out. We can fit in our music, stands, lights and all other paraphernalia and miscellany that seems to require portage. Very happy with my Christmas to us and our music.

I have had this bag on my violin case for about a year, and it is great. When I first got it, I was a full time music major meaning I had to carry so many books back and forth on the bus. With this bag, it made it so much easier to take my violin with me everyday. It holds everything I need and is very durable. I would recommend this product to anyone who is always going to school and rehearsals with their violin, I promise you, it makes things so much easier. AND it is easy to put on and take off. **The only thing I would suggest is that if your handle is just plain leather, put a clear piece of tape on the top where the first buckle would rest, just to protect the handle from fraying. ***

I ordered this hoping it would fit my viola case, and it does. I use it to bicycle to work, it is well-made and I always feel secure. They should make a slightly larger one for viola cases. My case is pretty sleek.

This review is only for the Joey and does not apply to the poor customer service from Shar. I took a chance ordering the Joey thinking it might prove to be to cumbersome to use. But it's proven to be exactly the opposite. As a traveling private teacher, and regular performer my violin is with me all the time and usually I have to drag around my purse, music bag and violin...and it gets old really fast. Since getting the Joey I now can carry all my essentials in my Joey and present a more professional picture to people I meet. On a side note, my chiropractor is thrilled with my Joey. After 34 years of active violin life my back was always out from packing all my stuff around - mostly on one shoulder. Now, the Joey centers the weight nicely on my back and shoulders and my back is already reaping the benefits. The Joey is well made, comfortable and professional looking in orchestra black. A number of my students are already begging their parents to get one for themselves.

Love the Joey! It has very comfortable straps and plenty of storage space for additional music, etc. I slip my American Continental Case into it and I'm off! Definitely Recommend!

Bought two of these for my daughters when the price came down from originally over $100. They can carry EVERYTHING to lessons or around camp--small stand, iPad, binder, music, homework, even flat shoes and clothes for a performance! Very adjustable when we had a 3/4 size violin, very padded straps, reflective piping. Obviously designed by people who know what busy violinists need.

First of all, I took a change & puschased this even though I have a shaped case (rather than an oblong case). They are making a model for shaped cases; the customer service rep I spoke to said 6 months to a year until that came out. However, as long as you attach the case to the case's handle (on the side), it's secure. I put some bubble wrap to minimize the case rocking back & forth (you can also stuff a scarf, hat, & golves in there) and traveled for several days with the case. The backpack straps were comfortable & evenly distributed weight. I fit three books, a small purse (very small), and a tablet in the compartmnets, plus a small music stand in the side pocket. This is a great case!!

The Joey pack back allows me to carry all my musical needs while playing Jams. Sometimes from the parking lot to the jam can be a good hike. Also allows me to pack up and hit all the jams in the area. Leaves my hands free. When not needed I can remove umbrella and my fiddlet stand fits in its place

I purchased this case because I am doing a lot of traveling and walking with my instrument. I am extremely happy with it! It is very comfortable to carry, light weight, great storage space for the size, and fits snuggly and securely around the instrument case. It does take a few extra seconds to fasten it back on to the instrument (especially if you have a lot of stuff in it), but the usefulness of it makes it completely worth it. I would highly recommend it.

I received my Joey Case Carrier today. Thus far I Love it!!!! If something changes i will be back to write another review or edit this one. It seems very well designed. There is a backpack strap cover, and a place to tuck the flap in when you want to use the straps. The stitching and zippers seem go be good quality It sits well on my shoulders (i am short, but it will work for a tall person) and has very comfy straps. It is simple to buckle and buckle. I dont forsee it being annoying to use on a daily basis. It feels secure. I turned it upside down and shook it and nothing fell out. Over all, after day 1, i am very pleased.

Hello Stuart! The Joey Case Carrier is very adjustable, so the width of your case shouldn't present an issue. There is no documented weight limit on the case carrier at this time, but our product specialists agree that 16 lbs will not be a problem for this carrier. I hope this helps!
