Brahms, Johannes - Sonata in E flat Major Op 120 No 2 for Cello - Transcribed by Wimmer - Arioso Press Publication

Item# 3484 123

Shar: $24.95Sale: $22.46

In Stock

Brahms wrote this beautiful piece late in his life for his friend, the great clarinetist Mhlfeld from Meiningen, for whom he also wrote the Clarinet Trio and the Clarinet Quintet. Brahms fell in love with the range and colors of the clarinet when played by such an artist. Nevertheless, according to the Brahms biographer Malcolm McDonald, he must have had hopes of a wider acceptance of this work. Brahms made his own viola transcription and allowed his publisher Simrock to publish a version for violin.

The reason for this transcription for cello and piano is that this glorious work is only rarely heard, and that the cello brings to it an entirely new sonority and soul. It is hoped that this work will now find a well-deserved place in the still scant cello repertoire.

The premiere was on March 14, 2008 at Harry Wimmer's New York Symphony Space Thalia Theater concert with the assistance of the marvelous pianist Eduard Laurel.

Chaplin, Charlie - Oh! That Cello: New Concert Version by Harry Wimmer - Arioso Press Publication

Item# 3659 123

Shar: $10.95Sale: $9.86

Few people think of music when considering Charlie Chaplin, but he was in fact a composer as well as a silent film star. Chaplin was also a well known musician and vocalist. Not only did he compose his own orchestral film scores, he was known to perform them as well. His music was very well received by the public, deservedly. This music is easy to enjoy, both by the performer and their audience.

Oh! that Cello In A New Concert Version:
This was the first Chaplin song published in 1916 by the newly formed Charlie Chaplin Publishing Co. Harry Wimmer has created a loving concert transcription of this nostalgic song, which is more like a gentle paraphrase. He gave its premire at his New York Symphony Space Thalia Concert on April 1, 2007. Mr. Wimmers performance can also be heard and seen on YouTUBE.

Item# 6162 123

Shar: $17.95Sale: $16.16

The Gypsy Rondo is probably Haydns most popular composition. It is, of course, the Finale of his Piano Trio in G, Hob XV/25, officially known as the Rondo allOngarese. It has everything: a bright, catchy, busy tune, somber interludes in the minor key, twirling dance-like figures and, of course, a flashy ending. This edition is for piano and String Quartet.

This edition contains the full score and parts for two violins, viola, and cello. Published by Arioso Press.
