Well-balanced and versatile
Although I try out different strings from time to time to see what else is out there, I invariably return to the Viennese Melange. I have an Anton Krutz violin that is already well-balanced in and of itself, but this set brings out both its depth and its brilliance of tone. I perform in a variety of settings both classical and modern, and use a Realist pickup when playing with a band. I have constant positive feedback about the tone quality of my instrument both through the sound system and on its own; it seems to me that these strings only improve on the violin's already solid foundation.(Unlike the other reviewer, I've never had an E string turn 'black,' and I am not one who changes strings at a rapid pace...)

Didn't match my instrument
I liked the Red Infelds on my violin, so I was surprised to be so disappointed with this set. I thought it made my instrument sound dull. I play on a del Gesu copy, and it has a darker tone. I thought these strings sounded muddy on my instrument. I especially didn't like the E-string, because that "multi-layering" seemed to rub off pretty quickly, so now I just have a black string.
