Dominant Synthetic Core Strings
Comparable in sound to gut, without gut's disadvantages. 

These strings have a highly flexible, multi-strand nylon core. The resounding success of Dominant strings is due to its similarity in tone and response to gut strings, without gut's attendant drawbacks. 

The sound is full and mellow, yet rich in overtones. Its ability to project sound without being metallic comes to the fore both in arco and pizzicato. Also offers effortless response to intricate fingering and tuning stability even under extreme humidity and temperature conditions. Dominant strings should be changed at appropriate intervals to ensure continuity of tone color.

Steel or Wound E String?

The plain steel E string in this set produces a bright sound with great projection. The wound E string is designed to produce a slightly warmer tone, and is slightly more expensive, but we find, equally popular. Set with the wound E string: D135S

Loop-End or Ball-End E String?

This set features a ball-end E string, which is best suited for fine tuners with 2 prongs. Generally, most full size instruments are set up with a single prong fine tuner, which is designed for a loop-end E string.

In 1919 violin maker Dr. Franz Thomastik and civil engineering specialist Otto Infeld founded the company, invented the steel string and caused a revolution in the music world. Suddenly the conventional gut string was challenged by a new string with the highest quality of tone, precision and reliability. It was received enthusiastically by virtuosi across the world.

The string makes the music. The diversity and beauty of the musical timbre depend upon, on the one hand, the type of material used for the core and on the other hand, the material spun around the core. For a perfect sound, Thomastik-Infeld has consistently chosen steel and nylon as the string core material for bowed and plucked instruments.

The highest standards are guaranteed by ongoing research in Thomstik-Infeld's own research lab engaging a team of highly specialized technicians.     hate them

    I bought a G, D, and A string with the stark gague because this website said that the sound would have a powerful sound. I reread the overview now, and I see that it says that the tension is igh... but it doesn't say that you can barely tune the instrument because the strings are wound so tightly. My pegs creaked with every move I made. It's harder on my hands, and I have problems with tension anyway. The sound is not powerful, it is brittle. I wasted about $30 on these strings. ...
