The pieces in this
intermediate-level collection range in compositional style from the works of J.S.
Bach to the works of modern Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe. Most stay in the 1st through 3rd
positions, though a few contain short passages stretching as high as 5th position. Some harmonics, double stops,
and meter changes are involved. Overall,
Mary Cohen’s Concert Repertoire for
Violin is an interesting collection of pieces of moderate length, just
right for a student recital.
This collection has been edited, selected, and
arranged by Mary Cohen and published by Faber Music. It includes a piano score and a separate
violin part.
Difficulty: A3/A4
