In the preface to this book, Franz Wohlfahrt promises that “If practised carefully and intelligently, [these studies] will serve as a solid foundation for the technique of any player ambitious to become an artist.”  He is right.  The Op. 45 studies have been essentials in the libraries of many great teachers for years.   Studies address string crossing, bow-strokes, shifting and finger-patterns. 

The Schirmer edition of this work is edited by Gaston Blay and includes a preface by the composer. 

Difficulty: Intermediate (ASTA grade 3)
