Inspired by the work of the ancient Persian poet Rumi, Augusta Read Thomas' Rumi Settings is made up of four short movements, each interpreting a segment of his poem, "Where Everything is Music."  The closing segment, on which the fourth and final movement is based, is really the crux of the whole piece:

"Stop the words now.
Open the window in the center of your chest,
and let the spirits fly in and out."

The original incarnation of Rumi Settings (for violin and viola) was premiered in 2002 by Ani and Ida Kavafian, and has since been transcribed by the composer for violin and cello as well.

This edition for violin and cello contains two performance scores, as well as brief performance notes from the composer.  Published by G. Schirmer.
