January 04, 2009wonderful duets for violin
Bartok wrote these duets to be used for teaching students to play the violin. They sure are different than the suzuki books! I did book 2 of these duets as a kid and I loved them. The duets are great for getting a good sense of rhythm and counting, intonation, and getting the feeling through the music of what life was like in eastern Europe then. They sure are different than duets by Pleyel, Mazas, Michael McLean and the Bach double violin concerto. Especially with a few more minor seconds and major 7ths in the harmonies and as passing tones than you normally find in I IV V I. But the tunes are great and fun to play. ... (See Full Review)
