Violinist Aaron Dworkin--responsible for establishing the Sphinx Competition, the nation's preeminent string competition for black and Latino string players--introduces a dramatic form of artistry called Classispeak, which blends poetic verse with classical music. In this recording, Mr. Dworkin is joined by musicians Stephen Shipps, Annette Kaufman and Althea Waites to perform eleven musical selections that provide a bedding for poetry reflecting the African-American experience.
