Hand made by skilled artisans from aged maple and spruce tonewoods. Enhanced arching gives a warmer and more powerful sound; careful varnish application gives a clean and precise look that brings out the beauty of the wood; better quality pegs allow your young student to master the intricacies of tuning. In every way, our Prelude will exceed your expectations for a beginner's instrument - it will delight both parents and teachers and inspire your young student. Set-up with Overture Premium strings. Outfit includes KVB Brazilwood bow, rosin and TC66 shaped case. Made in China, inspected in our Ann Arbor workshop. Available in 4/4 - 1/32 sizes.

    Pretty good for a starter

    Had a friend play a little something on this violin and he said that it's a pretty good starter for the price. I like the sound as opposed to a starter I picked up at a pawn shop a few months go-- that sounded bad. For 60 years old, I'll probably stick to it as I couldn't do it with the other starter. No complaints except for one of the pegs in the violin case that holds the bow was broken, and a slight mark on the violin face. That doesn't bother me. I'm satisfied and hope to upgrade when I'm ready. ... (See Full Review)

    great violin

    i bought this violin as a back-up to my 40 yr old instrument. I planned to use it for practice and rehearsals. this lovely instrument arrived friday and i played it in church sunday. it has remarkably warm tone and plays well. the friendly staff at shar suggested the prelude. great job. i love this violin! ... There will be NO refurbishment fee deducted for normal wear and tear. A depreciation fee will only be deducted if the instrument has had serious damage (cracks, etc.).
