Hand-carved of aged flamed maple and clear, straight-grained spruce, the Prelude is as much a delight to look at as it is to play. The delicately-shaded golden-brown varnish is spirit-based and hand-applied, allowing the Prelude to vibrate freely and the sound to blossom. Careful attention to the ebony fingerboard allows your young student to advance quickly, without fighting poor setup. Smoothly functioning ebony pegs, perfectly-fitted bridge and post. Made in China with final test playing and adjustment in our Ann Arbor workshop to ensure that the Prelude will perform perfectly, with no wolf tones.

Available in 4/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/10 sizes.

Outfit includes a brazilwood/horsehair (KCB) bow, rosin and Heritage (HCB320) cello bag.

This item comes with Shar's 1 year warranty covering defects of workmanship or materials. General wear and tear or mis-use are not covered. Non-transferable.

    Very good starter cello

    We have the 1/10 size cello for more than 2 years and we continue to receive very positive comments from our teacher on the sound (better than an 1/8 Eastman VC100 we moved up to). In addition, his cello has a bigger sound than one would expect from its small size. We did change the strings and put 1/8 Helicore on the 1/10 (it works). This particular cello sounded so good that another teacher who was tuning celli before a concert, made an effort to look at the label! We are very happy with this cello. ... (See Full Review)
