Baroque bows have always held a fascination with classical string players for their old-world elegance and beauty, but they have traditionally been too expensive for all but the serious Baroque player or the classical player/bow collector. After receiving numerous requests over the years we have worked to develop a Baroque bow that would be affordable for a beginning Baroque player or for a classical player interested in owning a bow in this elegant style. There is no notable difference in performance between pernambuco and snakewood bows.

    Good start

This bow is basically good and useable for Baroque playing. The head is a bit large, and therefore the bow is a bit overweighted at the tip, the cambre of the bow is rather extreme in the wrong irection when loose, the ribbon of hair is a bit too wide, and the screw on mine does not turn so easily. However, it produces a decent tone, is flexible, relatively light and essentially good for its purpose. Also, a round stick )like the snakewood version( would be nicer than this octagonal one. The snakewood version is much nicer looking and handles pretty well on some instruments, but its too heavy. 50 grams would be a better weight. The stick should be slimmed and the head-size reduced to be more useable and produce a better tone. ... (See Full Review)

    Good price but...

A pretty decent bow for this price range. However, 3 things about the bow could be improved: 1) The stick is a little thick it's almost as thick as that of a modern bow. 2) There is a little oo much hair for a Baroque bow. 3) The stick curves too much inwards when the hair is loose it's actually more curved than that of a modern bow when it's supposed to be straighter instead. If good baroque bows weren't so terribly expensive I might not have considered this item. ... (See Full Review)
