The Jade rosin provides an amazingly smooth tone -- when I first tried it, it was like I was a notch better player, as the improvement over my previous rosin (Hill) was really marked. I went ack to Hill for a while (when I lost track of where I'd put the Jade) and soon I wasn't sounding so great. But as soon as I reapplied Jade, wow. Recently, I was playing duets with a violinist friend who'd just had her bow rehaired and was really having a problem getting a good sound from her fiddle, regardless of how much of her rosin she applied. I pulled out the Jade, and she was impressed at the improvement. One downside that I notice is that Jade 'wears off' fairly quickly, and the luscious tone you expect doesn't come out unless you've got a good quantity of Jade on the bow. I'm a violist and the cross between light and dark rosin that Jade offers is perfect for me. I get the extra grip of dark rosin i need for thicker strings without sacrificing the smoothness f light rosin. I bet it would be great for violin too but if you're a violist you definitely need to try it!! ... (See Full Review)
