At the pinnacle of Chinese violin making are our John Cheng Workshop violins. Carefully crafted under the watchful eye of an award-winning, European-trained master luthier; John Cheng Workshop violins combine the finest, aged tonewoods from China and Europe, meticulous workmanship, expert varnish work and painstaking finishing. These beautiful violins are made entirely to our specifications and to the highest standards of playability. Final setup and tonal adjustment is performed at our world-class Ann Arbor shop to ensure that every violin is an inspiration both to the hand and the ear.Famed vioilist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who acquired the Emiliani in 1979, had this to say about this magnificent violin: "I only had to play on it for two or three minutes to say to myself, whatever it takes, I must have this instrument...". This lovely reproduction, crafted in China under the direct supervision of a European-trained luthier, possesses a complex and sweet tone that is complemented by a sophisticated antique varnish.
