Songs for Little Players
As a violin teacher, I really like this book. My 5 year old daughter is taking violin and she loves this book. The pieces are 8 measures long and simple. Evelyn Avsharian adds new notes gradually and not too quickly. The pieces are melodic and really pretty. The familiar tunes are Mary Has a Little Lamb, Are you sleeping, and Jingle Bells. The other 13 pieces are composed by Evelyn Avsharian. These pieces are simpler than the Suzuki pieces starting at Lightly Row so can be learned and memorized faster. This gives my daughter more confidence in her playing abilities as she can memorize one of these pieces in one or two weeks compared to a couple of months for Lightly Row in the Suzuki Book. We love the huge notes in this book - they are the biggest notes Ive ever seen in a violin or piano book and are great for small children.
