About This Item

Grand Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra, by Jacques Offenbach was composed by the famed originator of the operetta around 1846. Offenbach was both a composer and a virtuoso cellist, though this fact is little known, and he gave the premiere performance of this piece himself in the spring of 1847. Shortly thereafter the manuscripts for the second and third movements of this concerto were lost until relatively recently, and as a result this piece is not as well known as it deserves to be. This work is also known as the Concerto Militaire due to it's military style, particularly in the third movement.

For Cello and Piano Reduction. Published by Boosey & Hawkes.

Difficulty: A6 (Apprentice Rating)
