PRESTO® Carbon Fiber Performance Series

PRESTO® Performance Series carbon fiber bows have gained a loyal following among players and teachers alike. Combining modern, strong, state-of-the-art materials with traditional handcraft, these bows are as impressive and beautiful to look at as they are to play. Agile handling, arrow-straight tracking and full tonal power are hallmarks of these fine bows. Decidedly stunning in appearance due to the open weave carbon cloth, these bows are far better suited for severe performance conditions than wood bows, including pernambuco. And, as the world's supply of expensive pernambuco wood disappears, PRESTO® Performance Series bows deliver more performance for your dollar than any fine bow on the market today.

Silver mounted with Snakewood frog, open weave black carbon-fiber finish.

Presto Ovation Carbon Fiber Violin & Viola Bow

I am an adult amateur string player. I own Presto Ovation carbon fiber bows for both violin and viola. I use the Presto Ovation bows as theater orchestra pit backups for my good bows. The vations are strong, well balanced and have excellent playability. Most importantly, they are much more durable than pernambuco bows. If you play in theater orchestra pits, or high school orchestra, it is tough to find this quality of performance and durability for this amount of money. It is my personal opinion that the Presto Ovation may well be the best bow to buy for a violin or viola student who is making the transition from a three-quarter size to a full size instrument. Students who are physically large enough for a full size instrument already have the fine motor skills to handle a high quality bow. Saddling those students with a lower quality bow is just going to slow down their bow-handling learning process! My recommendation would especially apply to life-long piano students who decide to take up the viola in the eighth or ninth grade, so they can play in high school and college orchestras. I know several adult violists who started out as pianists! ... (See Full Review)

    Still happy a year later

I have had this bow for a year now, and I've been very pleased with it. It was a big improvement over the other bows I'd been using. This bow is responsive, light, and very well balanced for he price. My playing was markedly better within a few days of adjusting to the responsiveness of this bow. I don't think this would be good for a dead beginner. It is a good bow for a novice, advanced beginner, or intermediate. ... (See Full Review)
