Jay Ungar and Molly Mason achieved international acclaim when their performance of Jay's composition, Ashokan Farewell, became the musical hallmark of Ken Burns' The Civil War on PBS. The soundtrack won a Grammy and Ashokan Farewell was nominated for an Emmy. The piece was originally inspired by Jay & Milly's Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camps in New York's Catskill Mountains, which are still going strong today. Musicians of enormous talent, Jay and Molly draw their repertoire and inspiration from a wide range of American musical styles.
"SHAR
MUSIC has long been the prime source of competitively priced violin
family supplies and gear for working musicians and students alike. We've
recommended them to countless fiddlers over the years and have teamed up
with SHAR to create a special catalog section devoted to the joy of
fiddlings.
The following books
contain bare bones versions of hundreds of great tunes with suggested
chord symbols; no ornaments, variations, or extraneous material. Just
solid versions of the tunes as they're currently played by working
musicians across the country. We've used these books for years, as a
source of tunes to play for dances, live performances and film
soundtracks, as well as just sitting around the living room making music
with friends." - Jay Ungar & Molly Mason
