About This Item

The Cricket: The Most Exciting Development Since...the Violin!

The Cricket is the perfect travel violin for two reasons: It is small and easy to tote, especially into airliner overhead compartments. And, it is durable and reliable under less than ideal conditions, such as high heat and humidity. Perfect for the professional who needs to keep up with practice, but does not want to worry about their main violin. And it's great for beginners who need a reliable, good sounding full sized violin.

Carefully designed and crafted by Dale Webb and his crew in his Massachusetts workshop, the Cricket is actually based on the 17th century Dance Master's violin, the Pochette. The body is short because of the cleverly designed and adjustable chinrest and shoulder rest, which bolt on with ease, effectively lengthening the Cricket to the proper playing position - and after playing, simply remove them for storage. Aged spruce tonewood top provides fine tone, while a headstock, making changing strings a breeze. Although the Cricket is small, it is built to classic violin dimensions; that means that it feels right, and that standard violin strings play perfectly.

The Cricket has smoothly functioning Grover friction pegs, ready to enjoy as soon as you open the case, If you play in a band or in church, go with the electrified Cricket, which adds a passive pickup and premium Peghead geared pegs. You can add a Cricket soft case, made in the USA by TKL, especially for Cricket violins. Weight 1.05 lbs.
