After returning a cheaply made cello from a different company I came across sharmusic. I am very pleased with this purchase. Cello has a very nice rich sound and beautiful flaming. My daughters orchestra teacher is very pleased with the set up. I do wish that it came with a better bag, carrying the instrument back and forth to school requires more protection than this bag will provide.

Beautiful instrument and sound

I bought this in 3/4 size as a beginner cello for my small 14 year old daughter after renting for a few months. We were surprised at the quality for the price - it has a nice deep clear sound compared to most of the beginner cellos we've heard. It has a beautiful finish - lots of brown and pretty varnishing - unlike the mass produced "orange" looking cellos. We're very happy with the choice - doesn't sound or look "beginner" at all! It came completely set up and ready to play after a quick tuning. We appreciate the counsel and advice from your staff (Nathan, Evan, and others)- never patronizing towards beginner musicians and very honest and helpful.

I love this cello!!!

I use this cello for teaching, it's fun to play on and has a nice open tone on all strings. The Presto Audition bow I use with it when teaching more rambunctious students gives it a slightly tinny sound but with a pernambucco bow the sound is great. Has the feel of a quality cello. I have a Larsen A and D on mine.

A great beginning/intermediate cello

I ordered this cello after a long time of research and debating and Im not disappointed in the least. This instrument is so much more responsive than the laminate cello I was using and the tone is fantastic (this instrument is carved, by the way). The finish on this instrument is beautiful, almost a blonde wood tone with a slight tint of orange/brown and the grain of the back is very well defined. The craftsmanship of this cello is outstanding for the price point and has never failed to elicit positive comments from anyone who looks at it. To me, the tone is warm and full, especially in the lower notes and is bright but pleasant getting into the D and A strings. But in any case, Im very happy with this cello and felt it was well worth the investment. If your looking for an upgrade from your rental cello, this is definitely worth a look.

Silvia Ligia

Greetings, I originally rented a Franz Hoffmann Prelude Cello and later a Franz Hoffmann Prelude Violin from sharmusic.com. However, the violin did not pan out due to physical limitations. My passion for the cello increased, and I continue learning, studying, and absorbing everything cello related. After a while I began to think about upgrading from the Prelude, and started shopping for a new cello with a warmer deeper tone. I researched and read testimonials. Then I ordered the Bianca. This instrument exceeded my expectations in its beautiful appearance and tone, and I couldn't happier with this cello. The staff at Shar sent the cello in a great hardshell case. "Silvia Ligia" as I have affectionately named her, means "From the Woods, a Beautiful Voice." Silvia, has a rich, deep, vibrant, and beautiful tone. I'm very happy with my new cello, and completely satisfied with my experience with SharMusic. Thank you. Anthony Coyne (A.R.Coyne)

I upgraded to the prelude cello and immediately noticed a difference in sound quality. It was so much warmer, richer, and deeper. I am very happy with this cello and would recommend it for anyone especially beginners as it is easy to tune and comfortable to play.

Beautiful Cello

This cello is beautiful and sounds amazing for its price range! Thank you Shar! I only have two complaints: 1, the bridge is fitted well but is of a poor quality and won't last long before it begins warping, it is also a little high for a beginner. 2 the feel of the neck doesn't match the sound of the cello the neck is fat and a little bulky for a student's hand to get around. Much better than the local rental cellos we could find out here.

Easily worth the price

Shopped a number of different cellos before buying this one. I should comment that although this is a beginners cello I am not completely naive as to what makes a decent instrument being an (amateur) violin player myself, my husband is an (amateur) violin player, and we already have one cello player in the family, so have some background on which to judge this instrument. I think the quality of this cello is incredible for the price. It looks in person better than the photos, plays as well as the eastman vc100 we also have which cost 3 times the price and the eastman is well broken in. I have also bought hoffman violins in the past and found them great intro instruments which lasted and improved and as most well-made instruments improve with time, the hoffman may in the end exceed the eastman in quality. Without doubt will get anyone playing on a decent instrument and will carry you through several years of playing before considering upgrading.
