About This Item

The Sight Reading is Easy approach to reading music has been tested and proven successful since the 1930's; when music education pioneer, Adam P. Lesinsky , wrote the Rhythm Master Method for Strings series, at a time when there were no method books available. It produced prize-winning orchestras in national contests. The current material is a collaborative work done in 1968 by Mr. Lesinsky and Tanya Lesinsky Carey. It is based on concepts of the earlier series, proven over time, in combination with a modern pedagogical format. This collaboration, too, is time proven and successful. It has created generations of skilled readers. The Sight Reading is Easy series is useful as a method either for single instrument studios or multi-instrument programs where teaching reading skills in unison is important.

"For the Student who is already playing well and needs an introduction to note-reading, Tanya Carey's Sight Reading Is Easy is the perfect series. All the elements of reading music in 1st position are introduced in these four comprehensive books. Progressing in a logical sequence, the books are presented in a clear, descriptive and easy-to-read format. They are wonderful additions to the student string literature!" - Barbara Barber, SAA Violin Teacher Trainer

"Sight Reading for Violin, by Tanya Carey, is an incredibly valuable addition to the resources we need for the effective teaching of reading skills with students in the private studio. It is thoroughly researched, well-organized and comprehensive for all levels. Most importantly, with its graphics and illustrations, it is designed to be child- and parent-friendly. This is a welcome volume from a widely-respected and experienced pedagogue. Enjoy!" - Allen Lieb, The School for Strings
